Georgia’s Gold Star Fathers have set a new standard for the nation to emulate. Which is why Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) and Congressman Rob Woodall (GA-07) have introduced State Rep. Rhonda Burnough’s (GA House D-77) legislation honoring Georgia’s Gold Star Fathers on November 9 (GA House Resolution 655) in the U.S. House of Representatives so that they may be recognize nationally. The bipartisan House Resolution 706 would designate November 9 as “Gold Star Father’s Day” nationally.

National recognition will also provide Gold Star Fathers who have lost a loved one in the line of duty with the same considerations that currently exist for Gold Star Mothers and families nationally.

Recognizing Gold Star Fathers nationally will provide one day where fathers across the United States may gather to share stories of their loved one’s sacrifice and bravery in defense of democracy and our collective freedoms. It will also serve as a day for all Americans to respectfully acknowledge their sacrifice.

Please take a few moments to lend your support to Gold Star Fathers across the country by calling your Congressperson and ask them to vote in favor of House Resolution 706, which would designate November 9 as “Gold Star Father’s Day” nationally. Letters and emails are acceptable, but a telephone call is the most effective way to let your representative know that this issue is important to you.

Thank You.
